Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng paid a visit to the newly appointed leadership of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to discuss enhancing inter-agency collaboration in the fight against corruption and economic crimes.
The meeting, held on Monday in Accra, provided an opportunity for Mr Agyebeng to formally congratulate EOCO’s new leadership and reaffirm the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) commitment to working closely with EOCO to promote transparency, accountability, and the effective enforcement of anti-corruption laws.
Mr. Agyebeng emphasised the importance of avoiding institutional competition to ensure a coordinated and seamless approach to tackling corruption and economic crimes.
He stressed that both agencies must work together, leveraging their respective mandates and strengths to improve operational efficiency.
By fostering mutual respect, transparency, and cooperation, he highlighted that the OSP and EOCO can effectively address corruption-related offences, ultimately bolstering Ghana’s justice and accountability systems.
Mr Abdulai Bashiru Dapilah, the newly appointed Executive Director of EOCO, welcomed the Special Prosecutor’s visit and expressed his gratitude.
He acknowledged the critical role both institutions play in Ghana’s anti-corruption framework and assured the OSP of EOCO’s readiness to collaborate on strengthening investigations and intelligence-sharing efforts.
The two reiterated their commitment to deepening cooperation through enhanced information exchange, joint investigations, and coordinated enforcement actions.
They emphasised the importance of resource sharing and upholding public trust by maintaining transparency, accountability, and professionalism in their operations.
The Special Prosecutor was accompanied by the OSP’s Director of Investigations, Emmanuel Basintale, while the EOCO leadership team included Acting Executive Director Raymond Archer, Deputy Executive Director Aba Jacqueline Opoku, and Technical Assistant Ben Ndego.
