This decision forms part of the club’s grand aim of restructuring the technical team as we continue with

the 2023-24 football season.

In the interim, current assistant Coach, Abdul Rahim Bashiru has been mandated to take charge as the

acting head coach until further notice.

According to a press release from the club,  Management is therefore using this opportunity to thank Coach Koopman for his

services whilst at the club and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

Koopman steps into the role, on August 18, 2023 succeeding Serbian tactician Slavko Matic, who held the position previously.

Matic, the last substantive coach at Hearts of Oak, was selected after the departure of Samuel Boadu early in the previous season.

While Matic initiated his tenure on a positive note, the team’s performance gradually faltered, prompting discontent among fans and ultimately leading to his mid-season departure.
