The African Environment and Sanitation Consult (AFESC), the research outfit of the Jospong Group of Companies, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) on Friday, June 21, 2024, with the aim of promoting environmental sustainability through research and education.
Addressing the management of UEW and the media on the motivation behind this collaboration, Dr. Abena Asomaning Antwi, the Managing Director of AFESC, said, “In pursuing the environmental sustainability agenda, AFESC aspires to make an impact beyond our employees. We deem it expedient to partner with academia in conducting research on Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG).”
“We had a very good experience working with some of your students on research projects, and we believe this partnership will be mutually beneficial,” she said.
The Vice-Chancellor of UEW, Professor Stephen Jobson Mitchual, expressed his happiness about the partnership between UEW and AFESC to advance the cause of environmental sustainability. He stressed the need for industry-academia collaboration in building a better society and a nation at large. Professor Mitchual assured that his institution has the human resources and intellectual capacity to take on any form of research project.
“We are here to support you,” he said.
AFESC is a research and consulting service provider that delivers smart products to its clients. It is a center of excellence and professionalism in Africa and a reference for those outside Africa. It harnesses the professional expertise of highly skilled engineers, scientists, researchers, and associates (Think Tank Groups) in the delivery of tailor-made services.
The services provided by AFESC include project design, planning and management, training and capacity building, regulatory permits and certification support. Other services are planning, assessment, reporting and project execution, and industrial research, publications, and advocacy.
