Mahama Ayariga, Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, has raised concerns about the allocation of a significant amount of money to address the security crisis in Bawku.

Speaking on Woezor TV, Mr. Ayariga revealed that the National Security Minister receives a whopping 6 million Ghana Cedis every month, totalling 18 million Ghana Cedis per quarter, to tackle the Bawku crisis.

He expressed outrage that while the people of Bawku are struggling with poverty and living under a curfew, the National Security Minister is allegedly receiving large sums of money to address the security problem.

The MP claimed that this situation was largely created by the NPP’s promises to his constituents, which he believes were misrepresentations.

Mr. Ayariga cited credible intelligence and documents to support his claims, questioning the use of these funds while the people of Bawku continue to suffer.

“As the people of Bawku are grappling with the problem of insecurity, which I believe was largely created by the promises of the NPP as a political party to my people, the report that I have indicates that, and very, very reliable and credible intelligence that I have, and I have cited documents to that effect, that the national security minister…is given 18 million Ghana cedis every quarter in the name of dealing with the Bawku security problem. It means that every month the national security minister receives 6 million Ghana cedis.”

“He gets a cheque of 6 million Ghana cedis every month, every 30 days in the name of dealing with the Bawku security problem. While the people of Bawku are wallowing in poverty, we are sleeping in curfew and as a result of a situation created largely by their misrepresentations to my people.

They sign a fat cheque of six million Ghana cedis every month and take home in the name of dealing with the problem of the security situation in Bawku.”
