The top 10 finalists for the 2024 Literacy Challenge, presented by Channel One TV and Citi FM, have been announced.

The unveiling of the top 10 finalists marks the culmination of an exciting journey through the competition’s second stage, which involved the administration of an Aptitude Test at the Accra Digital Centre on Saturday, July 27.

The test was conducted for the top 51 students who had their exceptional essays shortlisted for further consideration.

With an overwhelming number of submissions received within the stipulated deadline, the evaluation process proved to be an arduous yet essential task. External examiners meticulously assessed each script to identify the most exceptional essays, ultimately narrowing down the selection to the top 50 participants.

However, a student who qualified for the top 50 but whose parents initially indicated her inability to travel to Accra from Bolgatanga, went to extraordinary lengths to show up in Accra, pushing the number to 51.

The announcement of the top 10 finalists was made on the Citi Breakfast Show on Citi FM and Breakfast Daily on Channel One TV.

The top 10 students will compete in a quiz competition on August 17 with the winner walking away with  GH¢10,000 and a trophy.

Contestants were tasked to write an essay on the topic “In not less than 600 words, write about the role of the youth in shaping the future of Ghana. What changes would you like to see, and how can young people contribute to making them happen?”.
