The party said this after setting aside the letter originating from the Secretariat of the Central Region NDC purporting to withdraw his candidacy. The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said that its Assin Central Parliamentary Candidate Shaibu Migyimah remains at post.

The party said this after setting aside the letter originating from the Secretariat of the Central Region NDC purporting to withdraw his candidacy.

The FEC further suspended the Central Regional Chairman of the party, Prof Richard Asiedu, with immediate effect for the decision he took.

This is the outcome of a meeting held on July 2, 2024 on the withdrawal of the Assin Central parliamentary candidate, Shaibu Migyimah over alleged amorous relationship with the wife of the constituency General Secretary, Sadique Broni.

“The Regional Chairman, Prof. Richard Asiedu, is hereby suspended as Regional Chairman for one month effective immediately and is referred to the national Disciplinary Committee of the party on a charge of anti-party conduct,” General Secretary of the Party, Fifi Kwetey wrote in a letter intercepted by 3news.com.

The party has also suspended the Constituency Secretary for one month “… and referred to the national Disciplinary Committee on the charge of anti-party conduct.

The letter that withdrew the candidature of the parliamentary candidate for Assin Central has thus been declared null and void.

RE: WITHDRAWAL OF THE NDC PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATE OF ASSIN CENTRAL, NURUDEEN SHAIBU MIGYIMAH

At its meeting held on Tuesday July 2nd, 2024, the Functional Executive Committee considered the letter originating from the Secretary of the Central Region NDC purporting to withdraw the party’s candidate for the Assin Central Constituency for the 2024 general elections and refer his alleged immoral conduct to the Regional Disciplinary Committee for further action.

 

 

The Functional Executive Committee of the NDC carefully examined the facts and circumstances surrounding the alleged withdrawal of the Parliamentary Candidate’s participation in the upcoming elections, in the presence of the Regional Chairman, the Regional Secretary, the Regional Organizer and other party officers from the Central Region, and took the following decisions:
1. The Regional Chairman, Prof. Richard Asiedu, is hereby suspended as Regional Chairman for one month effective immediately and is referred to the national Disciplinary Committee of the party on a charge of anti-party conduct.
2. The Constituency Secretary of the Assin Central Constituency,Sadique Broni, is hereby suspended for one month and referred to the national Disciplinary Committee on the charge of anti-party conduct.

3. The letter originating from the Secretariat of the Central Region NDC purporting to withdraw the candidacy of the said Assin Central candidate, Comrade Migyimah and further suspending his membership of the party, is null and void, and stands withdrawn. Accordingly, Comrade Migyimah remains the NDC Parliamentary Candidate of Assin Central for the upcoming general elections in December, 2024.
