Ghanaian Chef Ebenezer Smith has set the new Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
Chef Smith began his cook-a-thon on February 1 with the aim of surpassing the current record.
A post on his Facebook page hinted about the announcement of his achievement via a press conference on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.
Chef Smith is new cook-a-thon record holder with 802 hours and 25 minutes
Chef Smith was accorded the record with a time of 802 hours and 25 minutes.
He has now taken over the record from the current holder Irishman Alan Fisher who cooked for 119 hours and 57 minutes.
Chef Smith embarked on his record attempt in March 2024 completing the attempt with an impressive 820 hours of cooking.
Chef Smith cooked for over a month. On March 5, his cook-a-thon drew a star-studded lineup of performers including Praye Tietia, Yaw Tog, Amerado, Kofi Jamar, and Asakaa Boys.

Throughout this extraordinary challenge, numerous celebrities, including Nana Ama McBrown, Clemento Suarez, Kwaku Manu, SDK, and OB Amponsah, visited the Amadia Shopping Centre at Spintex to show their support for the chef’s incredible feat.
His cooking marathon was sponsored by the Amadia Shopping Centre at Spintex where the event was held.
