Ghanaian boxer, Emmanuel Kwartey Quartey popular called ‘Akufo Addo’ will depart the shores of Ghana for the United States in May.

The purpose of his trip is to announce his presence on the international scene while he waits to face a yet to be opponent in an international bout.

The deal to fight in the States falls on the back of his earlier performance in South Africa.

Quartey is keen on a comeback after he lost to Olympic Games Bronze Medalist, Samuel ‘Ring Warrior’ Takyi via TKO in November last year at the Centre Point Mall.

The Publicist & Translator for Quartey, Solomon Kumi who disclosed the news to the media, expressed delight from the camp of Emmanuel Quartey.

“The wait is finally over. We have always been wanting this for years, but unfortunately it does not happen. They remain certain that when the time is due, he will travel to the United States for the bout”, he said.

The Manager for Quartey, Gideon Boamah Owusu also indicated the excitement for the opportunity and hoped that they can break into the US boxing market.

“Everyone knows the United States is the hub of boxing in the world and every boxer aims to go make a mark there.

Unfortunately, Akufo Addo is yet to fight in the States, he has made exploits around the world including fights in the United Kingdom, South Africa, Italy, Germany and Dubai including Rwanda, Burundi and Cameroon in Africa but United States is missing from his portfolio”, he added.

Quartey’s seasoned boxing coach, Kofi Hybels, said the team has been working towards this platform for long, adding that Quartey will used this to relaunch his career and remains optimistic he will put up a good show to hit the limelight again.

He added that, the yet yearns for more bouts in the States so he can uplift his family, friends out of hardship.
