Ghana midfielder Elisha Owusu is staying with AJ Auxerre for the long haul after signing a contract extension that keeps him with the club until 2027.

This is a big deal for both Owusu and Auxerre. Owusu was a key player in getting Auxerre back to Ligue 1, France’s top division.

Even though they got relegated the year before, Owusu impressed in the second division (Ligue 2). He played many games, scored a super important goal in a local derby, and helped the team win the Ligue 2 trophy to get promoted back up.

“Great news for AJA: Elisha Owusu has extended his contract until June 2027! Our vice-captain, a great architect of the rise to Ligue 1 with 33 matches played and an unforgettable goal to secure victory in the derby against Troyes (2-1), therefore links his future with that of the club,” the club said.

The club are really excited to keep him around, hoping he’ll help them succeed in Ligue 1. Owusu seems pumped too, and together they’re looking to make a real impact in the top league.

“This contract extension is therefore a strong symbol of the club’s ambition to perform at the highest level, and the entire AJA is delighted that the adventure with Elisha continues,” Auxerre added.

Owusu’s hard work didn’t go unnoticed. He even got called up to play for Ghana’s national team in the recent 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Mali and Central African Republic.
