Ghanaian nurse and breast cancer advocate, Mrs Naomi Ohene Oti, has been named the winner of the prestigious 2025 Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award, a recognition that celebrates extraordinary contributions to global healthcare.
The Breast Society of Ghana (BSoG), of which Mrs Ohene Oti is a leading member, announced the honour with pride, describing it as a landmark achievement not only for Ghana but for the African continent as a whole.
Mrs Ohene Oti emerged winner from a competitive pool of over 105,000 global nominees. Her award includes a $250,000 prize, acknowledging her decades of unwavering commitment to improving cancer education, patient care, and advocacy for early detection.
Her work with the Breast Society of Ghana has led to nationwide awareness campaigns that have significantly improved early diagnosis rates and reduced the stigma around breast cancer. She has also championed enhanced cancer care training for nurses and health workers across the country and beyond.
