The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Sammy Gyamfi  has said that it is rather the case of the Atorney-General Godfred Dame in the Ato Forson trial that has crumbled, not any of the accused persons.

He says the comment that Mr Dame made that the case of the accused person has crumbled should be treated with a pinch of salt.

“If there is anybody whose case has crumbled it is Godfred Dame, he is the one whose case has crumbled not Ato Forson or Japka.

“Ignore the irresponsible comments he made in London and treat it with a pinch of salt and the contempt it deserved,” Sammy Gyamfi told Journalists after proceedings on Thursday, June 27.

Godfred Dame had said that the allegations that were made against him by the accused persons in the Ato Forson case have fallen flat.

It is recalled that the High Court on Thursday, June 13 admitted the audio recording that captured a conversation between Mr Dame and the third accused person Richard Jakpa into evidence.

Although the court admitted the recording, the trial judge Justice Efia Serwah Asare-Botwey had ruled on Thursday, June 6, that after listening to the tape, nowhere did the A-G influence Mr Jakpa to make a case against the first accused person Dr Cassiel Ato Forson.

“Having listened to the conversation between [Richard Jakpa] and A-G, the allegation that A-G sought assistance to implicate [Ato Forson] was not borne out of the mouth of the A-G but [Richard Jakpa],” she said.

Addressing a town hall meeting with some Ghanaian residents in the United Kingdom, on Sunday June 23, Mr Godfred Dame said “We should resist all the lies, deceptions and deceits of the NDC because that is their stock-in-trade, and I personally can attest to that.

“We are in Ghana and we have been around the UK, and my brother who lives in London called me anxiously the last time because he entered a barber shop and they were talking about the Attorney-General but they didn’t know that the Attorney-General’s brother was next in line for his hair to be cut.

“Within a matter of two days when we started our cross-examination of the person who was spreading all those lies, you have seen how the matter is going. Their case has crumbled, and as the President will say, ‘the case has fallen in water’.

“So, indeed we must resist the deception and lies of the NDC because they will come with all sorts of presentations about every major action or step being taken by this government; so we should be on the lookout.”
