The third accused person in the ambulance case, Richard Jakpa accused the Attorney-General Godfred Dame of presenting irrelevant evidence against him in court.
He also accused the A-G of ineptitude and incompetence.
Speaking to journalists after court proceedings on Tuesday, July 2, he said “Ineptitude and incompetence on the part of the A-G in presenting the case and evidence they brought. The evidence was very irrelevant, they brought evidence from years prior to 2016.”
“He brought documents he didn’t even understand,” he said.
During proceedings in court, Jakpa indicated the container carrying accessories for the ambulances in respect of which Dr Ato Forson and others are being prosecuted, has been emptied at the Tema Port.
According to tracking details, the container is currently located in Shanghai.
Richard Jakpa, the third accused in the case, previously stated that the government had not fulfilled its contractual obligations, including clearing the accessories shipped by Big Sea Trading Limited for installation into the ambulances.
Mr Jakpa emphasized that the delays and lack of support from the government have placed an undue financial burden on the company, which had already invested heavily in meeting stringent specifications.
The third accused person argued that the government’s inaction should not overshadow Big Sea Trading Limited’s commitment to delivering high-quality, tailor-made ambulances.
He underscored the company’s dedication to ensuring the ambulances were fully equipped to meet the government’s specifications.
However, recent tracking details reveal that the container, which was emptied at Tema Port, is now in China.
This development raises further questions about the handling and logistics of the shipment.
