Former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Inusah Fuseini, has rendered an unqualified apology to the Nayiri, the Mamprugu Youth, and the Council of Chiefs over comments he made regarding the Bawku conflict.

Speaking on JoyNews‘ Newsfile, Mr. Fuseini explained that his remarks were made spontaneously during a discussion that was not originally focused on the Bawku crisis, adding that his comment was not intended to stir anger.

He further clarified that his intention was never to side with any faction, but to promote peace.

However, he acknowledged that his comments were perceived as an affront to the authority of the Nayiri and the Mamprugu Kingdom.

“It was unfortunate that my views, though honestly expressed, appeared to align with the Kusasi position. That was never my aim. I am Dagomba, but suddenly I was being labelled as Kusasi simply for suggesting a possible approach to peace,” he said.

“Upon deep reflection, I realised my comments did not sit well with the Mamprusi people. They were not meant to destabilise the status quo, nor were they meant to undermine any traditional authority. I was simply pursuing what I thought could help bring justice and peace to Bawku,” he added.

Using the Newsfile platform, Mr. Fuseini extended his heartfelt apology: “With the greatest respect, I render an unqualified apology to the youth of Mamprugu, the Nayiri, and his Council of Chiefs. It was never my intention to hurt anyone.

“On this Holy Saturday, I pray that my apology will be accepted by all those I have offended—my brothers in Mamprugu, the youth, and the traditional authorities.”
