The dean of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) Law School, Professor Kofi Abotsi has noted that the most impoverished industrial group is farmers.
To that end, he has urged the farmers to demand policy response from flagbearers ahead of the 2024 general elections on issues affecting their business.
He highlighted the issues to include illegal mining practices (Galamsey), climate change, and failed crop yields.
Prof Abotsi further indicated that the escalation of these challenges may be at a breaking point for the farmers.
“With the escalating loss of farmlands to illegal mining, climate change & failed crop yield, & agro-based imports, we may be at breaking point. Hopefully, electors will demand practical policy responses from candidates in December,” wrote on his X platform.
