Accra is set to witness an electrifying display of strength and skill as the 2025 Independence Armwrestling Challenge takes centre stage at the Centre Point Mall on Saturday, 15th March.
The prestigious event will commemorate Ghana’s Independence celebrations, Ghana Month, and the historic achievement of the Golden Arms at the 13th African Games, where they secured an impressive 41 medals.
Minister for Sports & Recreation Kofi Iddie Adams, and Madam Linda Ocloo, Greater Accra Regional Minister, will be among the esteemed guests.
Other notable figures expected to grace the occasion include MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo; MP for Berekum West, Hon. Dickson Kyere Duah; Dr. Bello Bitigu; Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyeman; members of the Ghana Armwrestling Board; and representatives from corporate institutions.
The four-nation tournament will feature elite pullers from Nigeria, Benin, and Togo, alongside Ghana’s finest arm wrestlers.
Leading Team Ghana is world champion Grace Mintah, who, along with teammates Wisdom Abromekyi, Mabel Yeboah, Edward Asamoah, Joseph Tabel, Daniel Acquah, and Florence Boakye, has been in intensive training in preparation for the ultimate showdown.
Ghana and Africa Armwrestling President, Mr. Charles Osei Asibey, highlighted the significance of the championship, stating that it forms part of the federation’s efforts to celebrate Ghana’s success at the African Games and to prepare for upcoming international competitions.
“Armwrestling is now a household sport that Ghanaians love and support. We made history at the African Games, and since then, the enthusiasm has grown immensely,” he said, urging fans to come out in large numbers to cheer on the Golden Arms.
