President John Dramani Mahama embarked on a one-day working visit to Bamako, Mali, on Saturday, 8th March, as part of his ‘Good Neighbourliness’ tour across the sub-region.
This phase of the tour will see him visiting Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso, countries that have withdrawn from ECOWAS and formed the Alliance of Sahel States.
The initiative aims to foster dialogue and strengthen regional cooperation despite recent geopolitical shifts.
Upon his arrival in Bamako, President Mahama was warmly received at Modibo Keita Airport by Mali’s Transitional President, General Assimi Goïta.
The two leaders exchanged pleasantries before proceeding to the presidential palace.
At the palace, President Mahama and General Goïta held a closed-door meeting to discuss matters of mutual interest, including regional stability, economic cooperation, and diplomatic relations.
