Ghanaian actress and movie producer, Yvonne Nelson, has set the record straight about her book, ‘I Am Not Yvonne Nelson’, which garnered significant attention in 2024.

In a candid discussion with Irene Adubea Aning on Joy Learning and Joy News’s The Career Trail program, Yvonne emphasised that her book was never intended to harm anyone, but rather to offer valuable lessons for young people navigating life.

“My story, obviously, is not supposed to have any negative impact on anyone. It is actually meant to help young people navigate through life,” she stated firmly.

She, however, added that if anyone was negatively affected by her story, that was not her concern. “If hearing my story or reading my story had any negative impact on you, then too bad,” she stated.

Yvonne pointed out that in Ghanaian society, we often fail to have open discussions on critical topics, which leads to the younger generation being misinformed; a situation she refuses to be part of.

As someone who is vocal and unafraid to speak the truth, the actress shared that after releasing her book, she embarked on a high school tour across Ghana to educate students about the dangers of abortion.

“I feel that we have failed a lot of young people because we don’t tell them the truth. After my book, I started a high school tour. I go to schools and tell them the dangers of abortion.  How many celebrities will openly talk about an abortion,” she highlighted.

For Yvonne, the book is more than just a personal journey, rather, a valuable resource for everyone, especially young people and parents.

“It’s a piece that everyone should have. Every young person, every parent. You learn so much from reading my book,” she said.

When asked about the possibility of releasing more books, Yvonne responded, “Let’s see how it goes.”
