Shamima Muslim, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communications team, believes the opposition party is more open to criticism compared to the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
She emphasised that the NDC has shown tolerance in both their time in power and in opposition, particularly towards feedback from the media and the public.
During her appearance on Channel One TV‘s Point of View, she said, “I have experienced directly both the NDC and NPP in opposition and in power and I have come to the considered opinion that the NDC in power and in opposition is more tolerant to criticisms, especially even citizens criticisms and media criticisms.
“Today there are 79 reported cases of violation against journalists under the leadership of President Akufo-Addo and Bawumia.”
She further added, “Today the Afrobarometer report tells us that under President Akufo-Addo we are seeing increasing high-handedness also against the media and the deteriorating accountability institutions. ”
“All these convince me that the NDC is more tolerant to criticisms and creating a freer society for citizens than the NPP per my experience.”
