Staff working on the faulty ferry on the Oti River have resumed work after successfully fixing the problem despite the death of a staff assigned to fix the problem.
They are appealing to the authorities to ensure proper maintenance of the ferry to avert future problems.
The staff, Kofi Twee, died on Friday, August 2, after he was trapped by the propeller of the ferry when he attempted to fix a fault under it.
Although the ferry has begun transporting passengers and goods, residents in the area still want authorities to put a solution to prevent future problems leading to delays in crossing.
In an interview with Citi News, the Assembly member for the Dambai Central Electoral Area, Charles Awuranyi said, “The ferry was fixed on Monday, August 5, so work is smoothly ongoing, we’re at post.
“The maintenance is temporary, it will develop faults in no time. Authorities should ensure proper maintenance of the ferry to avoid future occurrences.”
