The Kwahu Traditional Council has stressed that the outdooring of Daasebre Akumoah Boateng III, Omanhene of the Kwahu Traditional Area, will proceed as scheduled on Saturday, March 8, 2025.

The Council entreated the public to disregard rumors of a court injunction withholding the outdooring ceremony, as there is nothing as such.

The Akyeamehene of the Kwahu Traditional Area, Nana Asiedu Kwabeng IV clarified that the injunction against the outdooring as being speculated, and that against six Chiefs of Abene and Baffour Akoto Osei (now Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III), had lapsed.

“We once again emphasize to the general public that there is no injunction preventing the outdooring ceremony. The event will proceed as planned,” he said in a press statement.

He described the injunction rumors as unfounded and misleading and urged the citizens of Kwahu to support the vision of Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III to develop the Kwahu Kingdom.

“Kwahu remains committed to peace, unity, and progress, and the area remains calm and peaceful”, he said.

No Dual Paramountcy in the Kwahu Kingdom

Nana Asiedu Kwabeng IV debunked the claims of a dual paramountcy in the Kwahu Kingdom, describing them as unfounded and misleading.

He explained that the former Omanhene, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, was destooled on October 19, 2024, for violating the sacred oath he swore as Omanhene, by engaging in corrupt acts.

“It is with profound sadness that Kwahu Kingmakers and Chiefs are compelled to issue this media notice in response to the publications on social media and some selected print media, TV, and radio stations.

”Sadness because, as the adage goes, ‘we do not wash our dirty linen in public,’ and also ‘A royal’s issues are not judged in public.’ However, if we keep silent, the misinformation being spread will cast a dark shadow on us”, he further indicated.

 Background

Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II was destooled on October 19, 2024, following his violation of the sacred oath and the disgrace it brought to Kwahuman.

The allegations of him engaging in corruption were widely reported and accompanied by letters from the affected party, Mr. Collins Darkwa Aboagye, as well as directives from the Office of the President and the Bank of Ghana.

This led to his dismissal as Board Chairman of the Agricultural Development Bank.

Learning of the development, the youth and people of Kwahu mobilized and demanded his destoolment, citing the disgrace his actions brought on the Kingdom.

The Kingmakers of Kwahu conducted inquiries, met with the complainant, and confronted the destooled Daasebre, who confessed to the allegations when presented with the facts.

“We were deeply disappointed as he had previously denied all the allegations. His behavior showed a lack of integrity, violated the sacred oath of Kwahuman, and brought disgrace to the stool.

“We asked him to abdicate, and after the period we gave him expired, we proceeded with the requisite customary rites and destooled him”, said Nana Asiedu Kwabeng IV.

The destooling was carried out lawfully, in accordance with both customary and chieftaincy laws.
