In response to recent unfounded speculation by Ghanaian Member of Parliament, Rev. Ntim Fordjour, regarding the operations of AirMed International’s aircraft, N823AM, I, as a proud Ghanaian residing in the United States, categorically reject any suggestion that this aircraft is involved in transporting contraband or engaging in illicit activities.

As someone working in freight, logistics, and transportation management in the USA, I have a clear understanding of how these industries operate.

Claims made by a so-called “Honourable” politician not only lack evidence but also undermine the integrity of a vital global medical lifeline. He must not tarnish Ghana’s reputation with such baseless allegations.

AirMed Flight N823AM, a Raytheon Hawker 800XP, is a medically configured aircraft operated by AirMed International—one of the world’s leading providers of air ambulance services.

This aircraft is specifically designed for high-level aeromedical evacuations and long-range patient transfers, equipped with onboard intensive care units, specialised medical equipment, and operated by trained medical personnel.

In March 2025, N823AM carried out multiple missions, including stops in St. John’s (Canada), Gran Canaria (Spain), and Accra (Ghana).

These routes are consistent with standard protocols for long-distance medical flights and reflect AirMed’s growing partnerships with hospitals and humanitarian networks across Africa.

Ghana, for instance, has become a recognised hub for specialised care in West Africa, and Accra’s Kotoka International Airport is a regular destination for medical transport services.

AirMed’s flights adhere to all international aviation and medical compliance requirements, including flight tracking, customs declarations, medical licensing, and coordination with civil aviation authorities in each jurisdiction.

Strict oversight and global recognition

AirMed International is a U.S. Department of Defense-approved air carrier and holds accreditation from EURAMI and CAMTS—two of the most respected air medical certifying bodies worldwide.

Aircraft like N823AM operate under stringent regulatory conditions that make the transport of unauthorised cargo impossible.

Speculative narratives about AirMed’s operations are not only inaccurate—they are damaging. They risk eroding public trust in the very systems designed to save lives.

Aircraft such as N823AM embody a global commitment to medical access, rapid response, and cross-border compassion.

At a time when international cooperation is vital, particularly in medical emergencies and humanitarian crises, it is crucial to uphold truth, transparency, and respect for the organisations working to protect human life.

About AirMed international

AirMed International is one of the leading air medical transport companies in the world, operating a fleet of specially equipped aircraft for both domestic and international patient transport.

With bases in the U.S. and global operational reach, AirMed delivers life-saving care in the air with speed, safety, and compassion.

Ghana is a respected nation recognised globally for its honesty and integrity. Rev. Ntim Fordjour and his associates must exercise caution when making allegations within Ghana. Misinformation is a crime!
