Sudan is facing the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, with millions displaced and many facing famine as a result of the civil war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia that erupted in April last year.
The capital, Khartoum, was where the fighting started all those months ago and in recent weeks intense clashes have returned.
For the first time since the beginning of the conflict, the BBC’s Mohanad Hashim returns to his birthplace, Omdurman, just across the River Nile from Khartoum, to see what has happened to his neighbourhood.
