A man believed to be in his late twenties, Joseph Amaley has allegedly committed suicide after reportedly blowing cash meant for the renovation of a family house.
He was found hanging at the Plant Unit of Wangkang, a ceramic company at Eshiem in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region on Friday, June 28, 2024.
Assembly member for Eshiem, Joseph Bismarck Eshun who confirmed the sad incident to Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson, the host of Connect FM’s Omanbapa Morning Show, indicated that the deceased was working with the company a few months ago but decided to resign after his uncle living abroad started remitting him for the family building project.
He had finished spending all the money sent by his uncle from abroad, but the project was nowhere to be found. With no explanation for his uncle, he decided to end it all.
“It is time for his uncle to return to Ghana, but he had spent all the project money and that got him thinking. He came back to the company and re-applied, he was employed and had started working but he was still being haunted by his deeds.
He sent a message to one of his friends that he was not happy with what he had done and so he may take his life. His lifeless body was later that day found hanging at the premises of the company”, he indicated.
He adds that his family has been informed while the police have started investigations into the incident.
