The Director of the Confederation of Football’s 54 Member Associations, Sarah Mukuna, has revealed that the motive behind the African Schools Football Championship is to give an opportunity to every boy and girl on the continent.

CAF is set to go ahead with the third edition of the championship since its introduction, with Ghana hosting the competition for the first time.

The tournament will see U-15 boys and girls teams from eight African countries challenge for continental glory at the University of Ghana between April 23 and 26.

Speaking to Joy Sports, Mukuna explained the purpose of the championship.

“The aim was to uplift school football for our school boys and girls on the continent, we are talking about U-15 or anything between 14 and 15 and with the vision to give every boy and girl the opportunity in football,” she said.

“We really challenged them to say if you are in school, now there is a platform that your talent can be detected and you can make a career being in school within the context of football.”
