Asamoah Gyan, an award-winning footballer from Ghana and former captain of the Black Stars, has finally spoken out about the report of his annulled marriage.

He revealed on Asempa FM this morning that the court’s decision was actually in his favor. Gyan explained that the marriage was annulled because his ex-wife was already married to someone else.

He expressed his frustration with his ex-wife’s camp for trying to twist the verdict, stating that he had remained silent for many years but would now defend himself.

Gyan questioned why they would try to twist the verdict when he had clearly won the case. He felt vindicated by the verdict, as it showed that the court recognized the truth in his case and granted his wish for annulment.

According to Gyan’s lawyer, he filed for annulment because his wife, whom he married in 2013, was already married to someone else unknown to him.

The wife argued that the case was not true and that the marriage was one of convenience, requesting a dissolution of the marriage instead of an annulment.

She also asked the court for six houses, multiple cars, and other assets, but these requests were not granted.

Mr. Kusi-Appiah stated that the court also found evidence that Gifty was previously married before her relationship with Gyan, and the court proceeded to invalidate their marriage.

In a court in Accra, properties, including a house in the United Kingdom, a four-bedroom house in Spintex, Accra, a filling station, and two cars, were awarded to Gifty Gyan, the former wife of former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan.

The court, presided over by Hafisata Ameleboba JA, also ordered Gyan to pay Gifty a monthly maintenance fee of GHC 25,000 cedis.

This decision came after the court declared their marriage in 2013 null and void.
