The Guinness World Record (GWR) has denied according any record of the longest cooking by an individual to Ghanaian Chef, Ebenezer Smith.

Following the headlines and news which circulated about Ghanaian Chef Ebenezer Smith breaking a new World Record for longest cooking marathon, TV3 sought to confirm the report.

In a direct message by the GWR to TV3 via X, the GWR maintained that the current record holder for the longest cooking by an individual is still Alan Fisher from Ireland.

The GWR explained that Chef Smith does not hold any title for the longest cooking and has not awarded any certificate to him.

‘We can confirm this is not true. Chef Smith does not hold the GWR title and that is not our certificate,” GWR said in its response to TV3.

“The longest cooking marathon (individual) is 119 hr 57 min 16 sec and was achieved by Alan Fisher (Ireland) in Matsue, Shimane, Japan from 28 September to 3 October 2023,” GWR said.

GWR confirmation to TV3 that Chef Smith does not hold any record for longest cooking.

Chef Smith on Tuesday, July 2 announced in a press conference that he has been adjudged the new record holder for the longest cooking marathon having embarked on the record attempt in February 2024 and completing in March 2024.

Chef Smith went as far as presenting a certificate to defend his claim of breaking the record for the longest cooking.

Speaking at the press conference held to announce the supposed achievement, he said “I am deeply humbled and honored to announce that I am now the new world record holder for the cook-a-thon”.
