Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu has raised the urgent need for Ghana to invest in a second gas infrastructure beyond Atuabo.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Wednesday, he emphasised that the country can no longer rely solely on diesel and petrol, especially when it possesses enormous natural gas resources that remain underutilised.

“We should be thinking of investing in a second gas infrastructure plan,” Mr. Iddrisu said.

“Even if it costs us between $750 million and $1.2 billion, I’m not an expert in this field, but we need it as urgently as possible,” he added.

He concluded by saying, “Instead of flaring gas, we should use our natural gas to power our energy system, which would help ensure a more sustainable and reliable energy future for the country.”
