Some youth group in Nkroful in Ellembelle District of the Western Region says they will do all they could to protect Adamus Resources to continue the good works they are doing in their catchment area.
They believe that harmony among stakeholders is critical to sustain Adamus Resources and its operations.
The demonstrators began at the Ellembelle District Assembly at Nkroful through the Sekyim Palace, the River Brome Street, and converged at the Adamus Resources main gate.
They held placards some which read “Leave Angela List Alone”, “Adamus successes largely due to Angela List’s exceptional leadership, “the company wouldn’t be where it is today without her”, “Angela List is a wonderful example of dignity and servant leadership”, “Angela consistency shows dedication as a leader who puts the company best interest first”, “The contributions of Angela List have been crucial to the successes and positive trajectory of Adamus” and “We appreciate Madam Angela for prioritising the employment of Nzema Youth in Adamus”.
Speaking to journalists, the Assemblyman for Nkroful, Francis Kwaw Mensah, believed that a peaceful atmosphere and harmony among stakeholders were critical to sustain Adamus Resources and its operations.
He stressed that “Adamus Resources needs a peaceful environment to sustain the fortunes and future operations and the Nzema communities. We also believe that Angela List should be allowed to operate and promote the growth of the company and we will also benefit. That’s our plea today. Presently, about 67 percent of staff at Adamus are Nzemas.”
Francis Kwaw Mensah noted that Miss List has ensured the implementation of corporate social responsibility programmes in education, health and the growth of private sector.
He mentioned that Miss List, through her initiatives, renovated the Nkroful Senior Secondary School at the cost of GHC200,000 and also engaged the agriculture teachers to produce chicken and vegetables like cucumber, supplied to the company.
Besides, he said, she had constructed a 12 -unit classroom block for the Teleku Bokazo Primary School to improve access and quality education for children in the area.
At Nkroful, Francis Kwaw Mensah said, Miss List has ensured the registration of community members onto the National Insurance Scheme.
Adamus, he said, had constructed a two-unit classroom block at and provided two 16-seater aqua privy toilets at Anwia and then constructed Anwia Nursery School Block – phase II.
On women empowerment, he stated, the Adamus Resources Chief Executive had helped in the training of 120 young women in the production of detergents thereby promoting creativity and the growth of the private sector.
“We have all gathered here for the world to know what is happening within Adamus Resources (Nguvu Mining Limited) and the communities at large. The company, which has contract with Liebeherr has employed only females from the Nzema Enclave as the drivers of these trucks and a total of almost 700 out of the over 1000 wokforce comes from Nzema. This contributes to over 60% of the workforce who benefit directly and more than 1,000 indirectly,” he said.
“Madam List is a blessing, a leader with exceptional qualities, working and serving the corporate interest of Nzema. As we speak, in the health sector. She has provided solar lights in about 11 communities including Bokazo, Anhwia, which ensured there was light 24 hours. This is a woman who has the interest of Nzemas and should be allowed to continue with her good works.”
He continued “This is a woman who wants to ensure that Ellembelle, where the gold is produced flourishes. She needs a peaceful environment to work and we will benefit more from development than what we see today. Our interest is the survival of Adamus and not the conflicts.”
