Ghana’s William Amponsah has set a new national record in the men’s 10,000m, shattering the previous record by two minutes.
The 25 year old Texas A&M student athlete set the new record of 27:47.93 seconds at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Wednesday, barely a year after setting the previous record.
Amponsah, with that time, set a new NCAA DII record, after finishing 4th in the same event last year.
Amponsah currently holds the NCAA II Cross Country individual national title, winning it in consecutive years (2023, 2024).
Amponsah will be hoping to make the mark in order to be part of Ghana’s team for the World Athletics Championships.
