Sudan have qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations nine times and would hope triumphing in Group F would make it a successful tenth. But in head coach Kwesi Appiah’s way is Ghana.
In a classic case of being undone by a familiar foe, Ghana’s pairing with Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series, will be the latest example of that.
Kwesi Appiah’s experience and familiarity with the Ghana national team make him the most dangerous opponent in the dugout. Having worked as head coach of the Black Stars in previous AFCONs and the 2014 World Cup, Appiah’s Sudan will be a true test for Ghana.
Appiah says Sudan will be well prepared for the clash later this year.
“There’s no minnows in football now. It is really important that any team you meet, you have to prepare well and make sure you have the right team [to win].” Said Appiah in an interview with 3Sports.
He also maintained his hope that Ghana and Sudan both qualify from their group to the AFCON.
“I personally also hope that Ghana and Sudan qualify from their group”, Appiah sufficed.
Appiah has led Sudan to lead Group B of the 2026 World Cup qualifying ahead of Senegal, DR Congo, Togo, South Sudan, and Mauritania.
