The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Monday, April 21, held the draw for the third edition of the African Schools Football Championship to be held in Ghana from April 23.
The draw ceremony took place in Accra with a host of African legends gracing the occasion, which will see the tournament come to the West African region for the first time.
For the girls’ division, which was conducted by Clementine Toure, host country, Ghana, have drawn in Group A alongside Morocco, who finished as runners-up during the second edition of the tournament. They are joined by Benin and Malawi in the group.
This will be the Black Damsels’ first participation in the competition after failing to qualify for the previous two.
In Group B, defending champions South Africa face tricky opposition in Uganda, DR Congo and Gambia.
Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, was the draw assistant for the boys category, which saw Ghana placed in Group A.
They will line up against Uganda, South Africa and Algeria.
Defending champions Tanzania will play Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire and DR Congo in Group B, looking to make it back-to-back wins.
Gyan sees the tournament as a big opportunity for the next generation of African talents.
With the theme Encourage, Educate, and Engage, the CAF African Schools Football Championship 2025 promises to deliver yet another exciting edition of Africa’s best schools’ football, which is equally supported by a series of capacity-building programmes.
The competition starts on Wednesday, April 23, with the final slated for Saturday, April 26. All games will be played at the University of Ghana Stadium.
