Chief Superintendent Dr Sarah Aba-Afari has been appointed as the Madina Divisional Commander by the newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP), Tetteh Christian Yuhono.
This appointment marks a significant milestone in her distinguished career within the Ghana Police Service.
Dr Aba-Afari is the first female PhD holder in the police service in Ghana and Africa. She earned her PhD in Art Education from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 2017.
In recognition of her exemplary leadership and contributions to crime reduction, she was awarded two honorary doctorate degrees in Ministry and Christian Education by the Holy Spirit Bible University, USA, in October 2023.
Beyond her academic achievements, Dr Aba-Afari has served in various capacities within the Ghana Police Service and has also worked with the United Nations in Europe and Africa.
She is a counsellor and an expert in art therapy, with a strong commitment to addressing gender issues and combating human trafficking.
In November 2024, she was a motivational speaker at KNUST’s 58th Congregation, where she shared insights from her career and encouraged graduates to embrace challenges and strive for excellence.
Dr Aba-Afari is an alumna of Hohoe E.P. Senior High School and Krachi Senior High School.
She hails from Hohoe, is married, and is a mother, successfully balancing her professional and personal life with dedication and grace.
