The Paramount Chief of the Penyi Traditional Area, Torgbiga Dadzi V has reminded the John-Mahama-led-government of its promise to provide a facelift to roads in the Volta Region.
He stressed that his traditional area in particular would owe allegiance and vote for any party that constructs the roads, underscoring the contribution of good roads to socioeconomic development.
Torgbiga Dadzi V said this when the newly appointed and confirmed Municipal Chief Executive of the Ketu North Municipality, Rev Martin Amenaki, paid a courtesy call to him on the first day of assuming office.
“One major request Cheifs in the region placed before President Mahama during his campaign in 2024 was to remember the Ho-Tokor road when he becomes President again. Luckily the Roads Minister is from the Volta Region so you have to work with him to have the road constructed and all others in the Ketu North Municipality.
“I have been saying that we will vote for any party that will construct the Ho-Torkor road till eternity”, he stressed.

He entreated Rev. Amenaki to ensure an equal distribution of development projects among the traditional areas in the municipality but “you must consider that some areas may need the projects more than others.”
He advised the MCE to cooperate with all stakeholders, especially the Member of Parliament, towards delivering on the developmental agenda of the governing National Democratic Congress in his jurisdiction.
He also urged him to focus on improving human resources in the municipality by investing in education infrastructure and logistics.
He appealed for the establishment of a Technical Vocational School in the Penyi area to help train young ones to position them to benefit from the fourth industrial revolution.
In the health sector, Torgbiga Dadzi V entreated the government to consider completing a self-help health center project which is being funded by the community members.
He expressed worry at the increasing rate of drug and substance abuse, which he said was affecting the mental well-being of ignorant youth.

Torgbiga Dadzi V entreated the government to intensify the fight against drug abuse and launch a campaign to clamp down on persons who produce and trade illicit substances.
He appreciated President John Mahama for appointing Rev Amenaki to lead the development agenda of the government in the municipality and entreated him to deliver upto expectations.
“I believe you have the credibility and integrity to deliver hence your appointment. Your predecessors have set a standard during their tenure. The onus lies on you to improve on this standard and leave a legacy for yourself”, he said.
Torgbiga Dadzi V further advised the MCE not to just heed directives or advice from people around him but “consider what you are being asked to do and see if it is in the best interest of the good people of the municipality before you do it.”

The Ketu North MCE, Rev. Amenaki eulogized Torgbiga Dadzi V for his advice, promising to be guided by them as he delivers on his mandate.
He oledged to work on the demands of the traditional ruler as he is focused on ensuring the Ketu North Municipality receives a fair share of the government’s resetting agenda.
He announced that through the instrumentality of the Ketu North Member of Parliament, Edem Agbana, several roads have been earmarked to be constructed including the Ho-Tokor road.
“We will resume construction works on the Ehi-Dzodze and Ehi-Penyi roads which were abandoned by the contractors because the previous government did not pay them. The road from Agorti junction through Agorti, Dekpor, Tadzewu. From Ohawu-Nyinu-Afife, and from Ohawu-Kporkuve-Agodeke will be constructed”, he stressed.
