The General Overseer and Founder of Pottersville International Church, Bishop Ambassador Sam Owusu, has picked holes in Ghanaian Christians’ inability to support the construction of the National Cathedral project.
In a recent interview on Joy Prime’s Changes, he expressed his disappointment with Christians in the country, stating that the failure to complete the project is a shame to the religion, especially considering that Ghana is predominantly Christian.
“Even if it was his own personal idea or a prophecy which some of us know it was a revelation that God asked Nana Addo to do it, he took it personally to do it and then the whole nation including Christians came together and dick a whole. Look at how many buildings that were broken down and destroyed. People went through sadness and pain, rejection and all those things. Then at the end of the day, we’ve left it just like that? It’s a shame to Christians.”
He is concerned about the negative spiritual implications it could have on the country, given that it is God’s instruction that has been disobeyed.
Speaking on the resignation of some clergy members who were appointed to a cabinet to assist in constructing the project, the Bishop called on them to reconsider their decision and return in unity to support the initiative, as it is a great spiritual asset to the country, particularly to Christians.
He said he does not blame Akufo-Addo for the failure of the project and that he wouldn’t face any consequences because his term has ended.
“It’s not Nana Akufo-Addo’s fault. He’s finished his work and is gone. He’ll never be the president again. So, there’s no way he’s going to have the opportunity to come back again.”
The clergyman, who has been an advocate for the project since its initiation by former President Nana Akufo-Addo, highlighted that it could serve as a major foundation for fostering unity among Christians, bringing together various churches across the country.
He stated emphatically that the project should be relocated to a different area.
Bishop Owusu pleads with the leaders of Christian organizations to unite and help build the National Cathedral, as it will have a great impact on Christianity.
