A total of 40 nominees have been appointed by President John Dramani Mahama to serve as Municipal and District Chief Executives (DCEs) in the Ashanti Region.
Once vetted and confirmed, the individuals will assume responsibility for coordinating government programmes, driving local economic initiatives, and strengthening engagement between the state and communities.
The Ashanti Region, one of Ghana’s most politically and economically strategic regions, is expected to benefit significantly from the fresh leadership proposed by the presidency.
The nominees—drawn from various professional, political, and civic backgrounds—are expected to bring renewed energy and diverse perspectives to the delivery of public service.
This latest move by the presidency highlights the importance placed on responsive governance and the pivotal role that district assemblies play in national development.
The nominations are currently pending approval under the provisions of the Local Governance Act, and district assemblies are expected to vote to confirm or reject the nominees in the coming weeks.
