The Grand Lodge of Ghana is poised for a historic transition as Right Worshipful (RW) Bro. Dr. Nortey Kwashie Omaboe prepares to assume the role of Grand Master.
His installation, set for May 10, 2025, at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, marks the beginning of a new era of visionary leadership in Ghanaian Freemasonry.
A Legacy of Service and Dedication
Bro. Dr. Omaboe’s Masonic journey is marked by distinction and dedication. Having served in several senior roles within the Grand Lodge, he brings deep experience, strategic insight, and a steadfast commitment to the principles of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth.
Since 2019, he has chaired the Grand Lodge Finance Committee, where he played a critical role in strengthening the Lodge’s financial foundation.
Notably, he led negotiations for the Grand Lodge Funeral Insurance Policy with Vanguard Assurance and oversaw the fundraising campaign for the transformative Heal Okomfo Anokye Charity Project.
A Champion of Innovation and Resilience
As Deputy Grand Master from 2019 to 2022, Bro. Dr. Omaboe mobilised record-breaking support for the Grand Lodge’s COVID-19 Appeal Fund, ensuring timely aid to members across all provinces.
His leadership was pivotal in relocating the Grand Lodge Secretariat and participating in global Masonic forums, including a special conference hosted by the Grand Lodge National of France on COVID-19’s impact on Freemasonry.
A Lifelong Commitment to Benevolence
Bro. Dr. Omaboe is a cornerstone of benevolence within the fraternity. As President of the Samaritan Foundation since 2018, he has modernised fund administration, introduced a new IT platform for contributions, and enhanced support for widows of departed brethren.
During his earlier role as President of the Board of Benevolence (2013–2017), he led the creation of the Lewis Fund—the first autonomous charity under the Grand Lodge of Ghana.
A Visionary Leader with Global Reach
Bro. Dr. Omaboe has represented the Grand Lodge of Ghana in international Masonic delegations to Côte d’Ivoire, the UK, France, and South Africa. He holds memberships in several prestigious lodges, including Masonry Universal Lodge No. 40 in Geneva, Herschel Lodge No. 1894 in the UK, and Lodge Étoile du Ghana No. 107—evidence of his commitment to fostering global Masonic unity.
Scholar, Economist, and Traditional Leader
In addition to his Masonic service, Bro. Dr. Omaboe is a respected economist and business leader. He holds a BA in Economics from Leeds, an MBA in Finance from Columbia, and a Doctorate in Corporate Strategy from the Paris ISM. Nana Awuku Sakyi has served as Akyempemhene of Amanokrom for 25 years and as Mpuntuhene of Akuapem since 2020, underscoring his devotion to cultural heritage and community development.
