The Dodowa-based water slide company, Royals Fun Fountain, on Easter Monday, offered a unique swimming experience for hundreds of children at Dodowa in Dangme West of the Greater Accra Region.
Commissioned a year ago, Royals Fun Fountain has become a sought-after relaxation and recreational destination for both children and adults.
On occasions such as Easter Monday and other holidays, patrons from far and near pitch camp at the facility.
Some parents who normally take their children to beaches and other places abandoned such plans and sent the children to Royals Fun Fountain to enjoy an ultra-modern water slide experience.
The facility which is the first of its kind in the area opens on weekends and special days based on special arrangements.
The centre has diversified its services to satisfy patrons with classic playground equipment that is most entertaining for kids, such as seesaws, bouncy castles, swings, and a face painting joint that aims at stimulating creativity and passion to encourage the children to express themselves through art and entertainment.
Some parents started arriving as early as 8am, most of them coming from Madina, Lapaz, Dome and as far as Nsawam.
Some parents who brought their children to have fun expressed their excitement about the introduction of the facility and heaped praises on the owners.
Founder of the Royal Assemblies and Prophetic Ministries, Apostle Dr. Bo-Bonsu praised the management of the facility for their vision, which he said is well tailored for promoting bond.
He said the effective monitoring and security measures put in place make the centre safer and secure. He said elsewhere, children are often exposed to indecent scenes that can be emotionally disturbing for kids.
Apostle Dr. Bo-Bonsu warned parents to be mindful of which places they take their children to because the children, apart from the exposure to indecent scenes, also face environmental hazards that can expose the children to harm.
A 60-year-old Maame Yaa Konadu who brought three of her grandchildren to have fun, said she was delighted that such a facility had come to her doorstep.
Madam Emma Ashitey, also a patron, said her burden of taking her children to faraway beaches on holidays has come to an end.
She said the water slide is artistically designed for children to give them the ultimate swimming experience, adding that when children play together it boosts their confidence and they also share ideas.
In an interview with Myjoyonline, Royals Fun Fountain manager, Mr Ernest Akyeampong, explained that swimming, especially with water slides, offers children numerous benefits, including improved physical health, enhanced cognitive skills, and boosted confidence, while also fostering water safety and social skills, unlike ordinary swimming pools.
Mr Akyeampong added that water slides are a great source of joy for children and adults alike, and advised parents to bring their children to have fun because they have trained guards who monitor the children when they are swimming.
He said there is an adult swimming pool and a restaurant that takes care of their visitors.
He announced that the company will organise a Mother’s Day celebration where lucky mothers and their children will have the chance to experience swimming.
