Highlife sensation, Joseph Nkrumah Buabeng known in showbiz circles as Nero X has said throwing weight for a political candidate should not be a punishment to ruin his music career.
The “Yawa Dey” hitmaker has opted to rally behind the National Democratic Congress candidate John Dramani Mahama with a hit song “Mahama for 2024”.
Many Ghanaians are of the view that support for a political party is a recipe for career doom, however, Nero X holds a different opinion.
Speaking to award-winning Entertainment host Tony Best on Akoma FM in Kumasi on Saturday, Nero noted: “Daddy Lumba is having his best life even though he rallied and campaigned for NPP in the past, same with Mr Beautiful, who is also faring well after campaigning for NDC and Mahama in the past.
“Everything we do in life is politics, our choices are politics hence I see no reason people should be maligned and abused for making a political choice. As far I am concerned my song and support for John Mahama is because I perceive him to be the right person to rescue the country and it has nothing to do with my career in future”.
