The acting Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), Sammy Gyamfi, has reassured Ghanaians that the 2025 budget will not introduce any harsh or excessive taxes, marking a clear departure from the previous administration’s approach.
Speaking ahead of the presentation of the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament, which will be delivered by Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, Mr Gyamfi highlighted that the budget is designed to provide much-needed relief to the people of Ghana. It will focus on economic growth, job creation, and alleviating hardships faced by many citizens.
“The 2025 budget is one of hope, a budget designed to alleviate the burdens of the people, not to impose new hardships,” he told JoyNew’s reporter Kwaku Asante.
“Unlike the previous government, which led to job losses and economic stagnation, this budget is focused on creating opportunities for Ghanaians and fostering economic growth,” he added.
Mr Gyamfi reassured the public that there was no need for undue speculation, as the full details of the budget would soon be revealed.
“In just a few hours, we will know exactly what is in the budget,” he affirmed. “I can confidently say that the differences between the NDC and NPP will be evident when the budget is presented.”
He emphasised the NDC’s commitment to fulfilling its promises to the people, stating that the 2025 budget would clearly reflect the party’s social contract with the citizens of Ghana.
“The NDC is a party that honours its commitments,” he said. “This budget will demonstrate that we take our promises seriously and are dedicated to the well-being of the Ghanaian people.”
In addition, he stressed that the 2025 budget would prioritise the empowerment of the youth, creating opportunities for young people to pursue their dreams and ambitions, regardless of their political affiliation.
“This is the kind of budget I’m eager to see,” he remarked. “A budget that will empower the youth, stimulate business growth, and create opportunities for all Ghanaians.”
He expressed confidence in the ability of Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson to deliver a budget that will meet the needs of the people.
“I have no doubt that my esteemed colleague, Cassiel Ato Forson, will present a budget that reflects our commitment to the people of Ghana and sets the nation on the path to prosperity,” he concluded.
