In a proud moment for Ghanaian enterprises, FreezeLink, a company dedicated to transforming Africa’s agricultural sector, has been named among Bloomberg’s 25 African companies to watch in 2025.
This acknowledgement shines a spotlight on the local company’s groundbreaking work in eliminating food and medicine waste through cold chain logistics and engineering solutions, particularly via its innovative pay-as-you-go (PAYGO) solar-powered cold storage offering.
FreezeLink’s inclusion in Bloomberg’s list follows a rigorous selection process, where, as Arijit Ghosh, Africa Managing Editor, Bloomberg, noted,“We sought ground-breaking companies doing transformative work that is scalable across Africa. We started by reviewing 2,000 companies. We then studied 150 companies in-depth before settling on the top 25.”

FreezeLink exemplifies this by directly addressing a fundamental bottleneck in African development.
By providing affordable and sustainable cold storage infrastructure, the company not only removes significant post-harvest losses but also empowers farmers to access broader markets, thereby enhancing their incomes and contributing to greater food security.
“The long-term challenge of post-harvest losses in African agriculture is finding a formidable adversary in FreezeLink,” said Solomon Kportuphey, a FreezeLink spokesperson.

He continued, “Our immediate strategic ambition is to create ‘Horticulture highways’, seamlessly connecting African farmers to both local and global markets through the provision of essential cold storage, transport, and engineering services.”
Further amplifying FreezeLink’s recognition, the company’s CEO addressed the main plenary session of
last week’s Qatar Economic Forum, powered by Bloomberg. This platform provided an opportunity to
showcase FreezeLink’s impactful solutions to a global audience, alongside fellow speakers, including Michael Bloomberg, Tony Elumelu, and Elon Musk.
This achievement by FreezeLink underscores the potential of Ghanaian ingenuity to address critical
challenges and drive positive change. It is a source of inspiration for aspiring entrepreneurs across the
nation.
