Economic Policy Analyst Senyo Hosi has weighed in on the ongoing controversy surrounding the attempted arrest of Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, stating that while the Assin South MP had grounds to raise his concerns, his approach could have been more strategic.
His comments come in the wake of the National Intelligence Bureau’s (NIB) failed operation to detain the MP, which has since sparked a national debate on political intimidation and civil liberties.
Speaking on JoyNews’ *Newsfile* programme on Saturday, April 12, Mr Hosi acknowledged the legitimacy of Rev. Fordjour’s suspicions regarding issues of national security and governance. “I believe he had some basis to raise the issues he did. He very much did but his modus operandi was not,” he noted.
However, Mr Hosi expressed reservations about how the MP, who is also the Ranking Member of the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament, handled the matter.
“That said, his modus operandi wasn’t optimal. In matters this sensitive, it’s important to ensure one’s approach doesn’t fuel unnecessary tension or misinterpretation. The right procedure enhances credibility and safeguards national stability,” he advised.
Mr Hosi called for cooler heads to prevail, urging both government and opposition actors to uphold democratic values and respect institutional processes.
He emphasised the need for a constructive engagement that prioritises transparency and accountability, without undermining Ghana’s democratic framework.
